Overview: 

Join marine geologists from the University of Rhode Island for an immersive exploration of Earth's deep ocean. This virtual field trip combines live interaction with scientists at sea, expert-led presentations on remarkable geological discoveries from around the world, and a behind-the-scenes tour of one of the nation's leading marine geological sample repositories. Participants will learn how researchers access, map, and study the deep seafloor using cutting-edge technologies while exploring volcanic systems, hydrothermal environments, brine pools, methane seeps, and seamounts spanning multiple ocean basins.


Meeting Point:

Park at the University of Rhode Island, Bay Campus at 215 S Ferry Rd, Narragansett, RI 02882. Make your way to the lower level of the OSEC building at Inner Space Center Mission Control.
