The salt marshes at Miegs Point at Hammonasset Beach are home to a seasonally recurrent population of anoxygenic phototrophic mats that host purple as well as green sulfur bacteria and more! Learn about these colorful and complex, layered, microbial communities and how to spot them for yourself at Miegs Point.
